Formal Sinamay Hats

What is Sinamay?
Sinamay is a beautiful, natural straw, which is made from the fibres of the abaca tree. Lightweight and breathable, whilst also being versatile and strong; I find that sinamay is the perfect material for creating stunning pieces for spring and summer.

Handmade Millinery
I have personally designed and handmade all of the hats in this section, using the millinery techniques of hand-blocking and free-forming. These pieces are also almost entirely hand sewn, with many only featuring a single line of machine stitching to the linings.

Couture Designs
This collection features some of my most eye-catching designs. From the small and sculpted, to the large and free-formed.

I have created a beautiful sense of movement within this particular collection. This has been achieved firstly through the shaping of the hats’ sinamay bases, and secondly, by my careful choice of trimmings. Hand-sculpted sinamay, hand-curled feathers, ribbonwork, and statement flowers, all add interest to this collection of formal sinamay hats.
