Ivory sinamay button shaped hat with silk abaca loops.
I have created this beautifully elegant hat in a timeless colour. I have used the traditional millinery technique of hand-blocking to mould the sinamay to create the button shaped base of the hat.
Silk abaca has been used to make a set of loops which adorn the top of the hat. These loops are simple, yet elegant and will work with floral, geometric or abstract prints. The loops also add an element of height and drama to the design.
I have chosen to leave the hat unlined. Instead, I have simply finished the inside with a matching ivory petersham ribbon.
This design is part of my Pick and Mix collection. Significantly, this collection is designed to be as versatile as possible. Each design allows for variations to colour, shape of hat, as well as the option to personalise the decoration with extra features. For example, feathers could easily be added to this hat for extra “oomph”.
Dimensions of Hat
- Width: approximately 15cm (6 inches)
- Height: approximately 4 cm (1.5 inches)
- Circumference: approximately 50cm (19.5 inches)
The loops add approximately 7cm (2.5 inches) to the height of the design.
How to Wear this Hat
I have designed this button hat with loops to be worn to either side of the head, at a slight angle towards the face.
A black adjustable elastic will be fitted depending on your chosen position. This is used to secure the piece in place. The elastic is thin enough to be hidden in your hair, thereby creating the illusion that the hat is magically perched on the head.
Where to Wear this Hat
I created this ivory hat with formal spring and summer events in mind, however it is a great all rounder. It would be perfect for a race day meet or a wedding. The lightweight and breathable sinamay is perfect for both indoor and outdoor events.
Meanwhile, this neutral colour can be paired with a variety of seasonal palettes. The structured loops are a classic and versatile style of decoration and will work with all kinds of printed fabrics.
Gifting Information
Your hat will be sent in an ivory square hat box. This will be carefully packed with acid free tissue paper, and finished with a pink satin ribbon. Storing your hat in this tissue-filled box will keep it in tip top condition for many years to come.
Although I don’t offer gift wrap for these designs, I can add a gift message card if you are gifting from a distance.

I created this ivory button hat with loops to be easily customisable. The design lends itself to being recreated with a two-tone colour palette.
