Hats with Feathers

Here, you’ll find my range of formal hats with feathers. The hats in this collection vary in size, material, and style. You’ll discover large-scale and free-formed sinamay hats, which are perfect for the spring and summer. As well as small and chic half hats, which I’ve designed for autumn/winter.

However, what unifies all of the hats in this range, is the visually striking addition of feathers. I find that feathers provide a sense of drama and movement to these pieces, as well as additional height.

Handmade Millinery
I work from my Sheffield-based studio, using traditional millinery techniques. Indeed, I have personally designed and hand-crafted all of the pieces in this range of hats with feathers.

I have either hand-blocked or free-formed all of the designs in this collection. They are also almost entirely hand sewn; with many pieces featuring only a single line of machine stitching.

Variety of Styles
I like to use feathers in my millinery in a number of different and innovative ways.

Within this collection of hats, you’ll find beautiful biot feathers, which I’ve used to create dramatic stamens, for my hand-sculpted sinamay flowers.

Meanwhile, other pieces feature hand-curled feathers in a variety of complimentary shades. Using feathers in this way creates a sense of soft movement.

In other pieces, I have used fabrics to create my own feathers. Using hand embroidery and wiring creates flowing lines and height, to otherwise dainty and structured designs.
