Last month I was very excited to be asked by Make up Artist and Hair Stylist Julia Jeckell to contribute to a collaborative project on the theme of “Black Swan White Swan”.
I confess, although I loaned some items for the shoot, I’m not entirely sure I was worthy of a credit, as I didn’t actually make anything for the shoot.
My contributions were a headpiece from my own personal millinery collection and a few pairs of my rather ancient ballet shoes. A couple of pairs are officially vintage, darlings!
Unfortunately, this 1950s style wraparound feathered headpiece has never looked quite this good on me. The ballet shoes, which I have worn at different pointes (pun intended!) in my adult life, have never looked so elegant.
Seeing my shoes again (after having been tucked at the back of the wardrobe for far too long!) also made me realise how much they actually mean to me, and why I simply cannot part with them.
As a result, they have ended up with their own little story on my Facebook page.
My thanks to Julia for the invitation to get involved in the “Black Swan White Swan” project. My gratitude to all the team involved for making my persistent hoarding seem worthwhile!
