HaTalk Magazine: Hat of the Month

HATalk-Hat of the Month- Front Cover

Imagine my surprise to find one of my designs as Hat of the Month in HaTalk magazine! I have been totally spoilt by the editorial team over the last couple of months!

I am extremely honoured to announce that I have been granted not only the cover spot this month (again!) but also the coveted Hat of the Month feature pages telling the story of my hat for the Made in Sheffield exhibition at Millenium Gallery.

This was my first attempt at working with leather and I was thrilled with the results. It was even more exciting to be able to work with lasers for the final trimmings.

If you would like to find out more about the story of the hat, you can read the whole story here and I will also be “In Conversation” with Giles Grover of Small Machines, who helped me create this ambitious design, as part of the Year of Making talks during The Festival of the Mind. We will be at The Spiegeltent in Barkers Pool on Monday 19th September at 2pm.

PS. I’ll can also let you into a little secret, the cover image was actually taken on my phone. I have no idea how I managed to take such a good photo and I fear I couldn’t repeat it again if I tried!

When I renewed my wedding vows, I knew a birdcage veil would be the perfect accessory for my vintage style gown.
Having bought many hair accessories from Sophie over the years, I knew that she took on bridal commissions, including beautiful birdcage veils.
My consultation at the studio was very enjoyable and I was able to choose from a range of styles to find the right design for me.
I had a wonderful time wearing my veil and I recommend Imogen’s Imagination every time I am asked about my bridal headwear!
Client Testimonials 1
I originally met Sophie in 2015 when she made a ribbon rose hair clip and birdcage veil for my wedding day.
When I planned a trip to the Vintage by The Sea Festival, I instantly thought of Sophie’s floral hair accessories to finish my look.
Unfortunately, I ordered incorrectly online but Sophie was fantastic. With great communication throughout the process, she made me exactly what I was looking for. My bespoke orchid headband complimented my outfit perfectly.
Would I recommend Sophie’s work? Absolutely! (Unfortunately, I didn’t get a photo wearing my new headband, the weather was not kind on our day out! However, I have given Sophie permission to share a photo from my wedding day instead!)
Client Testimonials 2
I was looking for a new hat to wear to the races and needed some advice and inspiration on what to choose. Sophie was able to offer really helpful advice by email and I booked an appointment to chat about a bespoke design.
I had a wonderful experience at the studio and was made to feel very relaxed and comfortable. Sophie picked a hat shape that I wouldn’t have considered, and it worked wonderfully! I was in a bit of a rush and Sophie pulled out all the stops to get it ready on time.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Sophie's services, without a shadow of a doubt! Sophie gave wonderful customer service, very friendly and I loved her wealth of knowledge and passion which made the experience more exciting.
It was so special to be involved in all the design stages. You really can’t beat the person to person experience, to see my outfit and pick up on the fact that I wanted something elegant. I liked the fact that I could have asked you to alter any part of the design if I wanted you to, however it is absolutely beautiful as it is! I felt so proud wearing my new hat to the races.
Sadly the weather was not kind to us and I was unable to get a photo of my full ensemble.

I first found Sophie when I was looking for a hat for my daughter’s wedding. I instantly loved the designs that I saw online as they are so varied.
I was confident that whatever dress I bought, Sophie would design and make something flattering to go with it. That gave me a huge freedom in choice. My second bespoke hat was for my son’s wedding and both experiences at Sophie’s studio were great fun.
I have absolutely loved my two bespoke hats and got loads of compliments whilst wearing them. I’d thoroughly recommend Sophie to anyone! All her designs are very well made and stylish. I’ve since ordered a variety of smaller items online and every time it has been very easy with quick delivery. The berets are wonderfully warm and very handy. My various fascinators are just right for when I need something on my head, but want less than a hat.

When an invitation to Buckingham Palace arrived, my daughter recommended Sophie to me. My daughter had previously bought a hat from one of Sophie’s pop up shops and knew that Sophie also offered a bespoke service.
The invitation was for my husband’s inauguration ceremony so I wanted something very special.
During my consultation at the studio I tried on the style of design that I wanted. Sophie then designed a unique variation to match my outfit, it looked even better than I had imagined. I was so thrilled with the fascinator and the service provided. At the palace, I was very confident that no-one would have a hat the same. Friends who have seen photos were very complimentary about how good my daughter and I looked!
I would 100% recommend Sophie to others. I would not have known about her if it hadn't been for my daughter and I wouldn’t want anyone to miss the opportunity of working with Sophie.

Imogen’s Imagination in HATalk Magazine

HATalk Magazine Front Cover

HATalk magazine is one of my favourite reads, so imagine my surprise the other week when I opened my email to read the latest edition, only to see one of my hats on the screen!

As part of The Hat Stand, we have been so very lucky to not only have the support of our local press in Sheffield, but also to receive the support of one of only two dedicated industry magazine for milliners!

HATalk is a monthly online magazine dedicated to all things hatty and has an international readership of professional and amateur milliners.  Packed with information about competitions, how to guides, and lots of news from the world of millinery, it’s a huge honour for The Hat Stand to be featured and for one of the shots from our Shoot Day with Ellie Grace Photography to be used as the cover image.

This is a subscription magazine, but we are truly grateful to the editor for allowing us to share the story of this year’s pop-up shop project with you…for free!
