Wine red felt button hat, trimmed with matching ribbon loops and a covered button.
As with all my occasion hats, I make this elegant piece by hand, using traditional millinery techniques. For this particular hat, I have hand-blocked and almost entirely handsewn the piece, save for a small amount of machine stitching to the lining.
I have made the loops from wide petersham ribbon, choosing a complimentary shade of wine red. I have also used this same ribbon to cover the button.
I have fully lined the hat with a coordinating burgundy silk dupion, and trimmed with a matching petersham ribbon.
Dimensions of Hat
- Width: approximately 17cm (6.5 inches)
- Height: approximately 4 cm (1.5 inches)
- Circumference: approximately 53cm (21 inches)
The wine red ribbon loops add approximately 3.5cm (1.5 inches) extra in height to the hat.
How to Wear this Hat
I have designed this hat so that it can be worn to the left or right of the head, depending on what compliments the wearer.
The hat is fitted with an adjustable black elastic, which secures the piece in place. This elastic is thin enough to be hidden in your hair, thus creating the illusion that the hat is magically perched on the head.
Where to Wear this Hat
This chic button hat would look fabulous at any formal occasion, including race day meets and weddings. It can also be worn throughout the year; from autumn right into spring. However, there’s something about the rich, wine red felt of this hat that speaks to autumn.
Gifting Information
I will send your wine red felt button hat in a white hat box. I carefully pack the box with acid-free tissue paper, and finish with a pink satin ribbon. Storing your hat in this tissue-filled box will keep it in tip top condition for many years to come.
Although I don’t offer gift wrap for these designs, I can add a gift message card if you are gifting from a distance.
