Description
Black paper straw boater hat with a black and gold cork leather bow.
Whether you are looking for a race meet hat or a wedding hat, this vintage-style boater will see you right through the day, and looks stunning worn with a rakish slant!
As with all my occasion hats, I have made this piece by hand, using traditional millinery techniques. This particular hat has been hand-blocked and entirely handsewn.
I have also trimmed the beautiful, open lattice weave paper straw of this hat, with a vegan-friendly cork leather bow. This flying bow offers a subtle amount of additional height and movement to the design, and brings a contemporary edge to this classic hat shape. The black cork leather itself features gold accents to give a little shimmer.
I have chosen not to line this particular hat. Instead, I have simply trimmed the inside with a coordinating petersham ribbon.

How to Wear this Hat
I have designed this hat so that it can be worn to the right or left of the head. The hat is fitted with an adjustable black elastic, which secures the piece in place. This elastic is thin enough to be hidden in your hair, thereby creating the illusion that the hat is magically perched on the head.
Where to Wear this Hat
Planning to attend a formal spring or summer event? This hat would be perfect; especially if you’re not a fan of the bright or pastel shades typically associated with this time of year.
The black and gold pallet of this hat, with its medium oval crown, wide brim, and swooping bow, would make an elegant statement at any race day or wedding.
This lightweight piece also offers a high degree of comfort for those warmer days. The brim provides shade, while the open lattice of the paper straw allows for breathability.
Gifting Information
I will send your piece in an ivory hat box, which I carefully pack with acid free tissue paper, and finish with a pink satin ribbon. Storing your hat in this tissue-filled box will keep it in tip top condition for many years to come.
Although I don’t offer gift wrap for these designs, I can add a gift message card if you are gifting from a distance.
Please do complete your message in the box above, especially if you’d like it to be delivered direct to the lucky lass. Don’t forget to say who it is a gift for…and importantly, who it is from!

Looking For Something a Little Different?
I created this black boater hat with cork leather bow, as a one-of-a-kind piece. However, I can use the design as inspiration for a bespoke order – creating something unique, tailored to your specifications. For example, I could create this hat with a different colour or type of fabric, to suit your outfit (see my pink boater hat for inspiration). If you would like to discuss a bespoke order, please do drop me a message, and I will get back to you.
