Stone felt boater hat, with a vintage-style petersham ribbon rosette and a large freshwater pearl.
This boater features a large oval domed crown and a short brim, which I have edged with narrow petersham ribbon. This is a very wearable size of hat – perfect for a race day or a wedding, and looks particularly stunning when worn at a rakish slant!
As with all my occasion hats, I make this elegant piece by hand, using traditional millinery techniques. This particular hat has been hand-blocked, and is also almost entirely handsewn, apart from a small amount of machine stitching to the lining.
Inside, I have lined the hat with luxurious, gold silk dupion, and trimmed with a co-ordinating petersham ribbon.
- Hat Brim:
- Width (from edge to edge): approximately 29cm (11.5 inches)
- Width (from edge of crown to edge of brim): approximately 5cm (2 inches)
- Circumference: approximately 90cm (35 inches)
- Crown of Hat:
- Width (at widest point): approximately 17cm (7 inches)
- Length: approximately 18cm (7 inches)
- Height: approximately 8cm (3.25 inches)
- Circumference: approximately 58cm (23 inches)
How to Wear the Hat
I have designed this piece so that you can wear it to the left or right of the head.
The hat is secured in place by a black, adjustable elastic. This elastic is thin enough to be hidden in your hair, thereby creating the illusion that the hat is magically perched on the head.
Where to Wear this Hat
This piece would be perfect for formal occasions, from autumn through to spring. And would look stunning at a race day, or wedding.
I will send your piece in an ivory hat box, which I carefully pack with acid free tissue paper, and finish with a pink satin ribbon. Storing your hat in this tissue-filled box will keep it in tip top condition for many years to come.
Although I don’t offer gift wrap for these designs, I can add a gift message card if you are gifting from a distance.
Please do complete your message in the box above, especially if you’d like it to be delivered direct to the lucky lass. Don’t forget to say who it is a gift for…and importantly, who it is from!
Looking For Something a Little Different?
I created this stone felt boater hat, with coordinating ribbon rosette, as a one-of-a-kind piece. However, I can use the design as inspiration for a bespoke order – creating something unique, tailored to your specifications. If you would like to discuss this option, please do drop me a message, and I will get back to you.
