Maroon melusine felt percher hat, trimmed with panels of triangular embroidery
This one of a kind hat has been made using a reclaimed vintage hat. The panels have been created using the original decoration stitched into the hat. This allows the glorious pile of this velour felt to be the star of the hat.
Melusine felt is known for it’s rich, lush long rabbit fur pile. This pile has been carefully brushed to create a glossy swirl, spiralling outwards from the centre of the hat. Dainty, yet striking, this maroon cocktail hat is incredibly tactile.
As with all my occasion hats, I made this elegant hat by hand, using traditional millinery techniques. For this particular hat, I have hand hand-blocked, and almost entirely handsewn the piece, apart from a small amount of machine stitching to the lining.
I finished the inside of the hat by fully lining it with a lustrous coordinating silk dupion and petersham ribbon.

How to Wear this Hat
I created this hat to be worn to the right of the head, and is designed to skim the wearer’s temple.
A black, adjustable elastic is used to secure the piece in place. This elastic is thin enough to be hidden in your hair, thereby creating the illusion that the hat is magically perched on the head.
Where to Wear this Hat
This maroon felt hat is perfect for all formal occasions, including race day meets and weddings, in Spring, Autumn and Winter. The bold colour, along with the abstract decoration, offer contemporary style. Meanwhile, the shape of the hat keeps the look classically elegant and understated.
Gifting Information
I will send your piece in a white hat box, which I carefully pack with acid free tissue paper, and finish with a pink satin ribbon. Storing your hat in this tissue-filled box will keep it in tip top condition for many years to come.
Although I don’t offer gift wrap for these designs, I can add a gift message card if you are gifting from a distance.
