This navy straw boater sun hat, with detachable black ribbon tie, is the perfect hybrid hat for summer!

Made from high quality wheat straw, this classic, vintage-style hat shape is great for everyday wear, but would also look fabulous if dressed up for a special occasion.

I have carefully chosen this particular sun hat design, for the versatility it offers; it will take you from lounging in the garden to celebrating at a big event…at the drop of a hat (pun very much intended!) Whether you’re looking forward to sunshine at home, have a holiday planned, or a summer wedding on the horizon, this hat will see you through it all, in style!

The hat has a percher-size crown, which simply means that it is designed to perch on the wearer’s head. This allows for the hat to be worn in a variety of positions, and also means it fits a wide range of head sizes. Meanwhile, the wide brim of the hat offers shade for the face. But don’t worry, this hat can also be worn comfortably with sunglasses.

How to Wear the Ribbon Tie

I will send a detachable black grosgrain ribbon tie, along with this limited-edition navy straw boater sun hat.

The ribbon tie can be worn in two different ways over the crown; either over the top, or to the front of the hat. The images show the ribbon worn in both positions. The ties can also be worn tied behind the head at the nape of the neck, or under the chin.

Customise Your Hat for a Truly Unique Design

You can use the options above to customise your hat with a variety of add-on elements.

Detachable Headband – A satin-covered, metal headband, which allows you to wear the hat without a ribbon tie. The headband attaches to the hat using the loops provided.

There are 5 different colours to choose from – Black, Brunette, Blonde, Ivory and Silver. I have chosen these colours to match with natural hair shades. This will allow for the the headband to be hidden in your hair, thereby creating the illusion that the hat is magically perched on your head.

Alternative Ribbon Ties – This navy straw boater sun hat comes with a black ribbon tie, as standard. However, you can choose to add a contrasting ribbon for your hat, if you would prefer a more dramatic look. Ribbons are available in, Black, Ivory, Gold, Pink, Red, Navy and Yellow. I heat-seal the ends of the ribbons; this prevents fraying and makes them easy to fit to the hat.

Detachable Ribbon Bow – Made to match the ribbon tie colours, these add an understated, yet classically elegant, touch to your hat. The bow loops measure 13cm (5 inches) in width. Each bow is approximately 15cm (6 inches) in length, including tails.

Detachable Rose Flower – I have chosen these flowers to perfectly fit the scale of this navy straw boater sun hat. You can add (and remove!) these flowers with ease, allowing you to style your hat to perfectly suit the occasion and your outfit.

The detachable rose flowers measure approximately 13cm (5 inches) in width. They are available in Ivory, Pink, Dark Pink and Yellow.

Each flower is accompanied a pair of detachable leaf sprays. These sprays measure approximately 13cm (5 inches) in length, and 10cm (4 inches) in width.

How to Wear the Detachable Bows and Flowers

The bows, flowers and leaves all secure using a small pin fastening. I have chosen this single fixing to reduce the risk of damage to the hat by repeated use.

I will send the pins on the flowers and bows with a locking pin back for extra security.

These optional decorations can be worn anywhere around the crown or brim. Simply position them to suit the way you wish to wear the hat and the ribbon tie.
