Crinoline Hats

Handmade Millinery
I have personally designed and handmade all of the crinoline hats in this collection. I work from my Sheffield studio, using traditional millinery techniques to create my pieces. Indeed, I have hand-blocked or free-formed all of the hats in this section. I also hand sew all of the pieces; many only feature a single line of machine stitching to the linings.

Crinoline
Crinoline is one of my favourite materials to work with; both elegant and practical, it’s a material which offers me so many design possibilities.

Sculpting with crinoline is a joy; I can create a soft, floaty effect from the fine mesh of crinoline, yet it also holds its shape. It is these qualities which have enabled me to create the dramatic, yet feminine, shaping you see in this range of crinoline hats.

Whilst traditionally crinoline was made from horsehair, nowadays it is a synthetic material, made from nylon fibre. This means that the crinoline I use is both vegan-friendly and durable. Indeed, choose any one of these crinoline hats, and you won’t have to worry about it getting wet in the great British summer!
