Navy blue felt half hat with blue suede leather leaves.
This small, chic hat would be perfect for any formal occasion, from autumn through to spring.
As with all my occasion hats, I have made this elegant piece by hand, using traditional millinery techniques. This particular hat has been hand-blocked, and is also almost entirely handsewn, apart from a small amount of machine stitching to the lining.
The star of this piece is definitely the dozens of die cut, suede leather leaves, which adorn the hat. I have placed and sewn all these leaves by hand; layering and mixing styles, to create the beautiful arrangement you see. Look closely, and you will spot that the leaves are a mixture of three styles. The largest is similar to a vine leaf, while the medium-sized is elongated and similar to an oak leaf. Finally, the smallest of the leaves is a little like a maple leave, with punched detailing in the centre.
For the lining of the piece, I have chosen a classic, navy blue and green Blackwatch silk tartan. To finish, I trimmed with a coordinating petersham ribbon.
Dimensions of Hat
- Width: approximately 12cm (4.75 inches)
- Length: approximately 24cm (9.5 inches)
- Height: approximately 2.5 cm (1 inches)
- Circumference: approximately 49.5cm (19.5 inches)
How to Wear this Hat
I created this hat to be worn to the right of the head.
The hat is secured in place by a black, adjustable elastic. This elastic is thin enough to be hidden in your hair, thereby creating the illusion that the hat is magically perched on the head.
Where to Wear this Hat
This navy blue felt hat would look perfect at any race day, wedding, or formal occasion. I like the idea of wearing it in autumn, with the leather leaves mirroring the leaves which fall at this time of year. But, truly, this hat would look just as good worn in the winter, or even spring.
I will send your piece in a white hat box, which I carefully pack with acid free tissue paper, and finish with a pink satin ribbon. Storing your hat in this tissue-filled box will keep it in tip top condition for many years to come.
Although I don’t offer gift wrap for these designs, I can add a gift message card if you are gifting from a distance.
Please do complete your message in the box above, especially if you’d like it to be delivered direct to the lucky lass. Don’t forget to say who it is a gift for…and importantly, who it is from!
Looking For Something a Little Different?
I created this navy blue felt hat with leather leaves, as a one-of-a-kind piece.
