Please note that no orders will be dispatched after 10am (GMT) Saturday 21st December until Saturday 28th December.

In stock designs will be sent first, with further orders following from 30th December.

There won’t be a Boxing Day sale….but I will be adding some new lines to the Sale Section on my return!

About Imogen's Imagination

Black Nautilus Brooch with Turquoise Beads

Black Nautilus Brooch with Turquoise Beads

Black ribbon nautilus brooch with turquoise seed beads.

This Nautilus brooch has been made using a vintage millinery trimming technique and embellished with turquoise beads. These feature a foiled centre for extra shimmer.

Petersham ribbon is hand pleated and hand stitched to create this “nautilus” shell shape.

During the 1950’s this technique was used to create whole hats, but only by couture milliners. Due to the laborious process and the skill required to make them, this technique is not suitable for mass production.

This technique is now only used by a handful of milliners due to its complexity.

The brooch measures approximately 6cm (2.5 inches) wide and 6cm (2.5 inches) tall.

Backed with felt, this ribbon brooch has a 2.5cm (1 inch) pin with a safety clasp.

This brooch will be sent in a white square gift box.
